My eggs

So I got bored, the blonde, on our totally uncalled for snow day, so I decorated eggs. Oh and I have a new high score in temple run 2, it's still lame compared to my old temple run game...

Sotd- avant qu'elle parte

So this is rap week. And I'm the blonde. And this is a later post.

So the song may be very unfamiliar to people, it's in French, and it's a newer song. The band who raps this song is called Sexion D'assault. Sexion D'assault was formed in 2002 and has eight band members, maitre Gims, Lefa, Doumams ( l'insomnaique), black mesrimes (black m), Adams Diallo (Barack Adama), maska, JR O Crom, and L.I.O or pétrodollars. The song, in case you all don't speak fluent French, is about the love of their mothers. They are trying to say "you should always be good to your mother, because one day she will be gone, and you can never take back what you did to her". The song has probably one of the catchiest choruses and intro, I can't get it out of my head. Their other songs from their latest album are also très excellent! L'apogée was their album and was number 1 on the charts for a while in France and Belgium. So go click the link to watch the awesome video.

sotd: Sek-These Dayz

Hello, it's the brunette, so I know that today is technically 'rap' week. But I noticed that we hadn't posted anything on last week's genre, dance music. This is probably due to the fact that this genre isn't something I generally have and listen to. However, I did have a post planed and I was looking forward to sharing it with you guys, so here it is anyways.
Although I wouldn't technically call this dance music, that was what it was categorized under for iTunes, and so I think that's just what I'll put it under here. Technically, I would say that Greek DJ/producer Sek's new EP These Dayz is more soulful electronic music. The four-song collection includes came out almost a week ago on Jan 21 2013 by Lost My Dog records.
The EP includes four songs: These Dayz, West Coast Ride, Tears & Sweat, and The Light, all with moody rhythms and romantic vibes. Also, with a Twiggy-inspired album cover, who can resist?
Also, if you likes this it's rumored that Sek might be coming out with another EP soon.

From BB to CC

Hey blonde here.  Over the past few weeks many projects needed to be done for Le school... and the more projects and essays means later nights. in the morning theres nothing id rather do less than take at least ten min just to do foundation and moisturizer and primers, so whats a quick fix? BB or the new CC cream. So last year the big huge beauty craze was BB cream (or beauty balm or blemish base). Bb cream had been all the rage in Asia since 1985, and slowly made its way to western markets earlier last year. This year BB cream got a makeover into a newer more updated beauty fix, CC cream. CC cream was made popular by Rachel K in Asia yet again. It has all of the covering and correcting qualities of BB cream, but has more nourishing, moisturizing, SPF value than BB. BBs new sofisticayed little brother is great for oily skin, BB cream can look greasy and is a great deal heavier than the light mousy finish of CC cream. The mouse finish helps the coverage and is easier to blend than BB. So when CC cream comes to more brands, in the words of Asos " we'll CC you in it!"

Blood Red Shoes - Water

Bonjour, it's the brunette, and although I know that technically this week's theme is dance music. However, I just wanted to let you guys know about the new album by the Blood Red Shoes, Water, which was released today. Technically I wouldn't call this an album, it's more of an EP as it only consists of three songs: Red River, Black Distractions, and Idle Hands.
Anyways, I really liked their last album In Time to Voices (2012), especially 'Cold,' and the three new songs are much of the same style as the bands' previous debuts-Alternative Rock.
Although the alt. rock duo (Laura-Mary Carter on guitar and vocals, and Steven Ansell on drums and vocals) was formed in 2004, they produced their first full album in 2008, Box of Secrets.
The band's name came from a Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire musical, where a Rogers turned a white pair of shoes red with blood after practicing vigorously for the role.
Sorry for the genre switch, see ya next time with some dance music

Things

Hey there blonde here, it seems like recently all we have been posting on here has been announcements... But I have one more, than ill post a song, or review. We have about 415 blog views... We really want to become more popular and all of today I have been working on just that, for some reason I think that if I post on celebrities pages than we will get shoutouts. Bahaha like that will ever happen. But really please tell people you know who love music and connecting with relatable people. So that's all I will talk about on this sad excuse for a post. We are working very hard to smooth out the bumps on the blog. Until next time...

Yesterday, we took a long bike ride, here are some photos of our adventure:
warning: there are many pictures, and please excuse the brunette's strange attire: she is wearing fuzzy socks and slides and a neon coat-no judging, it's clashtastic

Sotd: Beck

Hey there everyone, blonde here. So neither brunette OR I have been posting any songs of the day or anything for that matter on here. We felt pretty bad so I am here to fulfill your longing. Todays song is a nice transition from alternative to next weeks punk theme! So a few of might know a band by the name of Beck.
Bek David Campbell ( Beck ) is a four-time platinum artist. The song i am choosing is a little ditty from "Odelay" (1996). "Where its at" almost borders on alternative hip hop, with it's two turntables and a microphone, and has an upbeat beat. "Sissyneck" is another song that might seem familiar to anybody, with an iconic whistle as an intro. I am going to keep this short, so go listen to the song or something, live an alternative life y'all! And we will see you in PUNK WEEK tomorrow!

sotd: what you know by two door cinema club

hey brunette's song of the day today. So my song today is What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club. It's a Northern Irish band formed in 2007. Although they came out with their first album Tourist History in 2010 where it was signed by an independent French label before being released in the US later that year. What You Know was their most popular song on that album. Although they actually recently came out with another album, Beacon (2012), which features some equally cool alternative songs that you should also check out.

Sotd: little black submarines

Hey there blonde here. So my song pick of the day, on this glorious alt. week, is Little Black Submarines by The Black Keys. The keys have been making music since the time of 2001. Just like yesterday, the band consists of two members, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. In 2002 they released their first album ' the big come up '. This band is helping with bringing back garage rock, now I personally consider them alternative because its alt. rock! So this song " little black submarines " is a track on their latest album "el camino". The song starts as a slow acoustic song about heartbreak and losing oneself in the blindness and sorrow of that. About 2 min. into the song it picks up with a classic rock beat. The whole mood and even tempo change, and Dan comes in with an awesome solo. This is a song I can listen to on repeat and it just flows from tempo to tempo and mood to mood. So that's my pick for the song of the day ( sotd ). Now go buy the whole album because its all amazing.

sotd: m83 midnight city

Okay so Midnight city by M83 is a pretty popular song I know. It's kind of one of those alternative songs that actually becomes popular and often even non-alt. fans know and like. And I can understand why considering it's like one of my favorites. Also the music video is pretty cool although I don't really understand it.
So M83 it a French electronic band formed in 2001 and named after the spiral galaxy Messier 83. Since then the band had released a few albums, none of which attracted much attention until their this song from their album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. (2011).

Sick p.2

Well I'm sick... Still. Being sick really is a bother. My temperature is back to normal ( for now ) and I'm left with an average cold and the headache I've had for the past four days. So I dont really have that much to say other than being sick sucks. That is all.

Sick

Hey there blonde here. So today I've been sick. Fever and headache and such. I had plans to do science fair experiments and finish an English project and write poetry about rocks ( for extra credit ). I have been going in and out of feeling fine ( 98.6 degrees) to feeling absolutely terrible (101.5). I feel better now, but not really up to it. I've been sitting in my bedroom watching a 'Merlin' marathon on Netflix since 6:00 this morning. So this is my last day of break and of course I am sick.

I always seem to get sick over holiday, almost every holiday. Like winter break in the fifth grade. At our holiday concert I suddenly became uncomfortable in my chair for orcestra. After getting off stage and right before our chorus portion I got my temperature taken, 104 degrees. I ended up going onstage and singing a terrible solo from Oliver!. I was sick for a long time that break. So that's all I have to say for now so au revoir!

song of the day

Hey, it's the brunette here! So it's technically the blonde's day but today she's sick :( so instead I'll be filling in for her.
Okay, so it's alternative week! This is both of our favorite genres! And I cannot wait until my song tomorrow! But today Lillian has asked for me to talk about her song pick.
The song 'sixpack' was written by the two-peice band consisting of brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall from  Nashville, Tenesse. While the band started in 2001, sixpack is off of their newest album, Hypnotic Nights (2012).
The song has a rock inspired rhythm and summer inspired melodies and lyrics, which is only fitting considering the song's album was released in mid July. The music video is also inspired by summer, which only reminds me of how much I miss it.

Song announcement

GUESS WHAT EVERYONE

It's alternative week ( our favorite genre ) so were pretty excited I share our favorite songs from this genre! And tomorrow I (the blonde) am going to kick it off with a newer release from last summer. So everyone get pumped for Alt. music galore!

Adios y'all

Projects/ back to the future

Hey there blonde here, we haven't been keeping with our blog for a while and so were trying hard now to keep up with it. So I haven't done a schpiel for quite a while... And here it is. Today is Saturday tomorrow is Sunday, then the next day is Monday. Monday both the brunette and I go back to school! Well maybe that just deserved a period instead of an exclamation point. But anyways it's school again. Most people where we live are already back in school and getting tests and more projects. Now that's what I'm going to talk about for a sec. Projects. Why are we assigned projects after the fifth grade. Half of the population of middle/high schoolers HATE projects. We procrastinate then on the final weekend rush through what we've been trying to accomplish for the past three weeks... So in this final weekend before going back to school I must still complete an English project and science fair. I really don't mind the written portion but the crafty part is what gets me. I like crafts and such, but projects that require so many intricate arty parts I can't handle it.
So that was my schpiel on projects.

Also yesterday was the day ( January 4th 2013 ) that Marty McFly traveled to the future to. And 2013 is nothing like in the movie. Thought that would boggle your mind so that is all for today!
Adios amigos

song of the day

Sorry for not keeping up with the song of the days. But anyways, it's the brunette with the first post of 2013!
For the last rock song for this week, I have chosen Jejune Stars by Bright Eyes. I don't actually know whether this is alternative or rock-so I'm just going to call it alternative-rock and say that it's okay to put into this week's theme.
The band American band Bright Eyes was formed in 1995 by singer/songwriter and guitarist Conor Oberst, and the band basically has covered most genres over time. This particular song is from their most recent album The People's Key (2011). And although my favorite from the album is not the most popular, so if that's the kind of music you like you should check out the whole album!
